This year we celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Trasimeno Music Festival. Those of you who have already visited us know the magic of Lake Trasimeno. Situated in the heart of Umbria, just twenty minutes from the historic city of Perugia, it is one of the most beautiful natural sights in Italy, and the country’s fourth largest lake. The festival venue is the Castle of the Knights of Malta in Magione, with its stunning 15th-century courtyard. The festival brings together musicians and music-lovers from all over the world for a week. For me the highlight is performing with artists of my own choosing, making music in an intimate and inspiring setting. For the audience, it is the opportunity to experience a different concert every night while at the same time becoming familiar with the beauties of Umbria. We offer the complete package to those who want not just the music, but guided tours to such places as Assisi, Perugia, Todi, and Gubbio. These include the Gala Dinners that precede several of the concerts.
The festival will be held from June 27 to July 3, 2009. The programme is now visible on the programme page of this website where you are also able to book single tickets for both concerts and Gala Dinners. The booking of packages is still open. Friends of the festival will continue to receive priority seating. We urgently need your support, and hope you will become a Friend!
I look forward to welcoming you to the Trasimeno Music Festival 2009!
Angela Hewitt
Artistic Director
Become a friend of the festival! (2009-05-16)
As the seating capacity for our concerts in the Castle of the Knights of Malta is limited to 250, priority is given to those who become friends of the festival. Please visit our donations page for more information.
The American Friends of the Trasimeno Music Festival (2009-05-15)
The American Friends of the Trasimeno Music Festival has just been launched this week in New York City! It is a non-profit organization formed to ensure the survival of the festival and to continue the high standard of performance that it has already achieved.
After the 2009 festival is over, we will be announcing activies in the United States that will be for our members only. These can include concerts, masterclasses, meetings with Angela Hewitt, open rehearsals, and lecture-demonstrations. Various levels of membership will be defined at that time. Privileges will also include priority booking and seating for the 2010 festival.
In the meantime, we welcome any donation, large or small. Your gift will be gratefully acknowledged in the 2009 Festival Programme, unless you request anonymity. A tax-deductible receipt will be sent to you.
To donate, please go to the Donations page of this website and click on US Friends in the right-hand corner to take you the page dedicated to that. Please join us!
